SUCCESS OF THE 3RD ILLESLEX LEGAL FORUM

The event was held yesterday at the Hotel Valparaíso in Palma, in collaboration with the Cercle d'Economia de Mallorca, and was chaired by Tolo Gomila, president of the Spanish Federation of Tourist Accommodation (Fevitur).

Yesterday was held the third edition of the Illeslex Jurist Forum, which featured as a speaker Tolo Gomila, president of the Spanish Federation of Tourist Accommodation (Fevitur). In his speech, he explained the current situation of the sector and its complementarity with the traditional hotel model. The forum was organized in collaboration with the Cercle d’Economia de Mallorca, and the speakers of the first and second editions, Antoni Riera and Aurelio Vázquez, respectively, were present.

Tolo Gomila explained that tourist accommodation "is an absolutely complementary offer. Today, 33% of the accommodation supply in Spain is already tourist accommodation, and one of the factors that has normalized the activity is the significant investment made by large hotel companies and other smaller companies. It is an absolutely sound adaptation, both in normative and regulatory terms, as well as in qualitative terms. It is complementary. " Regarding the expected evolution, he stressed that "we will see, above all, a decrease in tourist accommodation in big cities, in urban destinations. Thanks to the pandemic, we have seen an increase in tourist accommodation in what is known as empty Spain, in the inland areas. This proves that tourism is and will remain an important representative and economic driver".

For their part, Guillermo Dezcallar and Javier Blas, founding partners of Illeslex Abogados, explained that "the Forum has several objectives. As a company, in our case as a law firm, we believe that we have the obligation and commitment to contribute to the improvement of society in any way possible. And organizing a forum for debate and dialogue such as this is another contribution at a time when we believe it is very important to share ideas and experiences to manage the future better." Referring to the fact that this and the two previous forums focused on tourism, they emphasize that "tourism is the most important economic sector in the Balearic Islands, from which these live either directly or indirectly". That is why we think it is very important to promote initiatives like this one, which will serve to define a strategy and a roadmap for the future of our community".
